Start popping the champagne! Ciara and her NFL star fiancé, Russell Wilson, married in a romantic ceremony in England on Wednesday, July 6, Us Weekly can confirm.
The pair, who got engaged in March 2016, tied the knot in front of more than 100 family and friends, a source tells Us, and the stunning bride was attended by six bridesmaids, including celebrity pals La La Anthony, Kelly Rowland and Serena Williams.
The singer, 30, and the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, 27, celebrated their nuptials with a pre-wedding dinner in England on Tuesday, July 5, where Ciara wore a stunning white floor-length halterneck gown and the groom was dressed in black.
Wilson proposed to his girlfriend of almost a year with a huge 16-carat diamond engagement ring while they were on vacation in the Seychelles in March.
“She said Yes!!!” the Super Bowl champ captioned a sweet video at the time. “Since Day 1 I knew you were the one. No Greater feeling… #TrueLove @Ciara.”
The “Love Sex Magic” singer — who shares a 2-year-old son, Future Jr. with her ex-fiancé, rapper Future — and Wilson, a devout Christian, chose to remain celibate throughout their courtship.
The football star explained last July how he presented the idea of abstinence to his girlfriend.
“I asked her, ‘What would you do if we took all that other stuff off the table and did it Jesus’ way, no sex?'” Wilson said during an interview at The Rock Church in San Diego. “I knew God had brought me into her life to bless her and for her to bless me and to bless so many people with the impact that she has and I have. We’re not going to be perfect, by any means.”
She admitted in an interview with Cosmopolitan in February that it hasn’t been easy to stick to that vow of celibacy.
“We’re hanging in there. I’m not gonna lie,” Ciara said. “I’m human, so it is not easy, especially when I look at him and I think he is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen — that I’ve ever laid my eyes on, to be honest. I’m like, ‘Look the other way!'”
