Do tell! Chrissy Teigen weighed in on Kanye West’s feud with Taylor Swift during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday, March 2 — and though the dust has settled a bit in recent days, she thinks there’s more to come.
The pregnant model — who is good friends with West and his wife, Kim Kardashian, and has worked out with Swift at NYC’s Body By Simone — offered her opinion when WWHL host Andy Cohen asked about Swift’s Grammys acceptance speech, during which the “Out of the Woods” singer took a not-too-subtle dig at the rapper.
Teigen, 30, and her husband, John Legend, attended the star-studded show, but didn’t catch her speech.
“It’s tough when you’re put in the middle like that. I didn’t get to see it live, but I don’t know,” Teigen said on WWHL. “It’s so awkward. It’s an uncomfortable moment. It’s weird. John and I were very uncomfortable by it.”
Cohen and fellow guest Kristin Chenoweth agreed. “I thought, Why give up your huge moment? You are winning Record of the Year. Why hand it over to this guy?” Cohen said.
Swift made her comments after West took credit for her success in his song “Famous,” which is off his new album The Life of Pablo. “I want to say to all the young women out there—there are going to be people along the way who are going to try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame,” Swift said at the time. “But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be greatest feeling in the world.”
Swift and West’s feud began several years ago, when the rapper interrupted her speech at the 2009 Video Music Awards. He took the microphone out of her hands and shouted that Beyoncé had “one of the best videos of all time” for her song “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” The two later hugged it out at the 2015 Grammy Awards. According to Teigen, though, their more recent war words is just the beginning.
“Well, I’ll tell you. It’s not over,” Teigen said on Wednesday night. “This is going to go on. This is being waged.”
