The force was with them? Carrie Fisher admits in her upcoming book, The Princess Diarist, that she and and Harrison Ford had a secret, three-month affair while filming the first Star Wars movie in 1976.
The actress, 60, reveals details of their romance and claims the costars began their affair after a birthday party for Star Wars director George Lucas. Ford offered to drive a “wine-sodden” Fisher home, and they ended up sleeping together, according to extracts of the book obtained by RadarOnline.
“It was so intense,” Fisher told People on Tuesday, November 15, of her affair with Ford, who was a 33-year-old married father of two at the time. “It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend.”
Fisher, who was 19 years old at the time, writes that she felt insecure around Ford and worried she was a “bad kisser,” reports RadarOnline.
“I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face — a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow,” she writes. “How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?”
And while Fisher said she was an inexperienced teenager and hinted their first time in bed together didn’t set the world on fire, she overlooked any lack of spark because the Indiana Jones star “really was handsome,” she wrote.
The actress even fantasized that Ford would leave his first wife, Mary Marquardt, and imagined him proposing to her with a gold and diamond ring engraved with “Carrison,” reports RadarOnline. But the actor returned to his family after filming ended, although he and Marquardt later divorced in 1979.
Fisher made the revelation in her new book, which is a collection of her diary entries and will be released on November 22.
Ford has not responded to her affair claims.
Fisher took to Twitter on Tuesday to clarify that Ford, now 74 and married to actress Calista Flockhart, wasn’t bad in bed.
“I would never talk about how someone was in any furniture — chair, bed, coffee table or otherwise,” she wrote.
