Carly’s crackin’ jokes! Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina, who catapulted to the No. 2 spot in the latest polls after her impressive debate performance last week, stopped by The Tonight Show on Monday, Sept. 21, where she discussed her opponents Donald Trump and Ben Carson, and showed off her musical chops.
Fiorina, 61, weighed in on Carson’s recent controversial comments on NBC’s Meet the Press, where he said he doesn’t think a Muslim has the right to be elected president.
“I think that’s wrong,” Fiorina said. “It says in our Constitution that religion cannot be a test for office… I actually believe people of faith make better leaders. My faith has sustained me through some very bad times. I lost a child, I’ve been tested. But whether it’s a person of Christian faith or Jewish faith or Muslim faith or other faiths, I think faith gives us humility, empathy, and optimism, and I think those are important things.”
After last week’s GOP debate — during which Fiorina called out Trump, 69, for his disparaging comments about her face — the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard rose 15 percent in the CNN poll. Trump, who’s currently leading the pack of candidates, blasted Fiorina on Monday, Sept. 21, for her tenure at her former company, tweeting that she was “terrible at business — the last thing our country needs!”
“I think those are Democratic and Trump talking points,” Fiorina replied to Fallon, noting that she was brought on to lead Hewlett-Packard in 1999 to “save a company.”
During her sit-down, Fallon also asked about Vladimir Putin, whom Fiorina recently met in Beijing. “I would describe him as a formidable adversary. He’s very confident. He actually can be quite funny and charming,” she dished. “But he’s a KGB guy. We should never forget this.”
Joking, she added that Trump and Putin “have a lot in common, actually. But we’ll just leave it at that.”
In the final moments of her segment, Fallon asked her to sing a song, which Fiorina surprisingly agreed to do. The politico sang the 1950s tune “Rock Around the Clock.”
Watch her belt it above!
