After Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey legally become man and wife, not much else will change.
“We’ve been living a married life for over six years now,” Brazilian model Alves, 29, tells ET Canada. “We have homes together, we have family together, we have kids, we’ve built a life together. So we’ve been living a married life this whole time.”
Alves, who is mom to son Levi, 3, and daughter Vida, 2, with the actor, says getting married will be “great for the kids.”
She explains: “Levi actually understands what it means now that mama’s going to have the same last name as they have, so that’s neat.”
Marriage has never been important to Alves and her beau, she tells ET Canada. “A lot of people, sometimes they’re so stuck on ‘I gotta get married, I gotta get married,’ that they forget that the really important thing is to have a healthy home, a healthy family, a healthy environment for your kids and to have everything going in a good, peaceful way.”
Alves and The Lincoln Lawyer‘s McConaughey, 42, have yet to set a date. “I really haven’t thought much about the wedding,” Alves admits. “We just got a new home [in Texas]. It’s just been really busy. I’m really just enjoying being engaged.”
