Life is gravy. Bachelorette contestant Brady Toops tells Us Weekly that his life is returning to normal after his whirlwind appearance on the smash ABC series and subsequent relationship with his ex-girlfriend Britt Nilsson.
“It’s nice for some of the craziness to die down,” Toops, who was at the Kit & Ace store launch party in L.A.’s Venice neighborhood on Wednesday, Oct. 28, tells Us. “It still happens. The raving fans come up and want pictures. I just flew in from Sacramento and the flight attendants wanted pictures. But, for me, it’s endearing. I think the important thing for me is getting back to the rhythm of doing what I love and making music and playing shows. Life is great.”
In fact, the Nashville-based rocker has been making new music of his own. “I’m making a new record,” he tells Us — and is considering a fresh move. “I live in Nashville, but I get out to L.A. a lot. Contemplating a little bit of a move. We’ll see what happens. My next record is going to be a singer/songwriter record… We’re in the beginning stages of recording. I’m excited about it. I’ve had quite a bit of inspiration in the last year to write about.”
Toops became a standout suitor on Season 11 of The Bachelorette after he left the series to pursue Nilsson, who ultimately lost the Bachelorette spot to Kaitlyn Bristowe. The pretty brunette and Toops shared an initial connection, but their relationship ended in May — but not without takeaways.
“There might be a few heartbreak songs,” Toops tells Us of his new record. However, he and Nilsson are still pals.
“Britt and I are on great terms. She’s incredible,” he tells Us. “I’ll run into her every once in a while. No drama… We’re just friends. We had a crazy experience together. We’re both thankful for it and I think we both moved on…as friends, which is all you can hope for.”
Though fans were upset that he and Nilsson split, Toops explained this past July why it would have never worked out. “1. We had no real celebrity couple mashup name.. Britt(y), Brad(itt). See, there was almost no chance. This was probably the beginning of the end when we realized this,” he joked at the time on Instagram. “2. Britt is afraid of heights, and not only am I afraid of heights, but I’m actually afraid of her being afraid of heights. That obviously couldn’t work.”
Jokes aside, he concluded his Instagram post on a thoughtful note, “Even though it’s sad that Britt & I are no longer together, I want to thank everyone for all the love & support you’ve shown us. She’s a special girl and deserves nothing but the best.”
