Hello, we love this! Boy George and Jack Black interrupted their interview with Conan O’Brien on Monday, July 13, to stage an awesomely impromptu performance with The Doors’ guitarist, Robby Krieger.
Boy George, 54, appeared on Conan to promote the reunited Culture Club’s upcoming North American tour, and spoke to O’Brien about his musical influences.
“I never really got past the ’70s,” the British icon began. “You know, sort of Stones, Beatles, The Doors, Bowie! Punk rock, Siouxsie and the Banshees — that’s where I go back to.”
“It’s funny, so much of that makes sense to me but when you say The Doors, I don’t hear that influence,” O’Brien responded.
Black, who was sitting next to Boy George on Conan‘s couch, was then inspired to jump in. He shot back at O’Brien, saying, “What’s wrong with The Doors? The Doors are rad!”
The three stars then spitballed about the band, reflecting on late lead singer Jim Morrison‘s yelling abilities and the quality of the famed group.
“If you both love The Doors so much, why don’t you both sing a Doors song now?” O’Brien said, throwing down the gauntlet for Black, 45, and Boy George to take the stage. He then introduced Krieger, who was a part of The Doors from the mid-1960s until the end of the band’s run.
