It’s been a big year for Beyoncé, who took home the Moonman for Video of the Year at the MTV VMAs on Sunday, August 28, in addition to six other wins that helped her make history as the artist with the most VMAs ever. (Madonna previously held the title with 20 Moonmen; Beyoncé has 25.)
The superstar singer also owned the awards with her performance that night, a medley of songs off her latest album, Lemonade, which ended with a literal mic drop and arguably outshone performances by Rihanna, Britney Spears and Ariana Grande.
In February, Beyoncé stunned the world with her riveting — and controversial — performance of her hit “Formation” at the Super Bowl, followed several months later by the surprise release of her visual album Lemonade in April.
Her tell-all tracks alluded to marital troubles with husband Jay Z, causing fans to speculate about the state of the powerhouse couple’s relationship and seek out “Becky with the good hair.”
Most recently, however, the couple was spotted at the U.S. Open in NYC on Thursday, September 1, cheering on Serena Williams as she faced off against Vania King.
On Friday, Beyoncé and her daughter, Blue, touched down in Frederick, Maryland, to spend the holiday weekend with First Lady Michelle Obama and the girls at Camp David.
