Beyonce Performs Extensive ’Lemonade’ Album Medley During MTV VMAs 2016 — Baseball Bat Included — And Shuts It Down

That. Just. Happened! Beyoncé shut down the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards with her surprise performance on Sunday, August 28.

The “Sorry” singer’s performance wasn’t announced until the day of, but insiders confirmed to Us Weekly earlier in the week that Beyoncé would indeed take the stage Sunday night.

And slay she did! Beyoncé performed five tracks from her Lemonade album.

Queen Bey, who lead the nominations with a career-best 11 nods, kicked off her headline-making performance in a white ensemble for “Pray You Catch Me.”

The Grammy winner then lit up the stage as she moved on to “Hold Up,” “Sorry,” “Don’t Hurt Yourself” and, finally, “Formation.”

“I just died and came back to life!! Lawddddd 😩😩🙌🏼🙌🏼 #beyonce #vmas,” one fan tweeted during Bey’s performance, while another added: “Damn, who is the recipient of the Vanguard award again? #VMAs #Beyonce just gave a show plus her ad for the 2nd leg of her tour. Good night.”


At the end of her performance, Bey dropped the mic and the audience erupted in applause.

The Grammy winner last performed at the VMAs in 2014, where she closed the awards show with a 20-minute medley of her greatest hits.
