Friday night lights. Beyoncé and Jay Z performed at a rally for Hillary Clinton in Cleveland on Friday, November 4, with the “Daddy Issues” singer telling the crowd of thousands that “this is history.”
“There was a time when a woman’s opinion did not matter — if you were black, white, Mexican, Asian, Muslim, educated, poor or rich,” the 35-year-old “Lemonade” singer declared at one point between performances of “Formation” and “Freedom.” “If you were a woman, it did not matter.”
“Less than 100 years ago, women did not have the right to vote,” she continued. “Look how far we’ve come from having no voice to being on the brink of making history — again — by electing the first woman president. But we have to vote. The world looks to us as a progressive country that leads change.”
In addition to her surprise appearance, Beyoncé’s husband, Jay Z, also showed his support for Clinton, alongside fellow artists J.Cole and Chance the Rapper.
“I want my daughter to grow up seeing a woman lead our country and know that her possibilities are limitless,” the “Sorry” singer said, referring to the couple’s 4-year-old daughter Blue. “We have to think about the future of our daughters, our sons and vote for someone who cares for them as much as we do, and that is why I’m with her.”
At another point during the epic Get out the Vote concert, Chance the Rapper directly addressed the crowd, rallying them to exercise their voting power.

“If you didn’t hear, this is what they call a battleground state,” the 23-year-old artist said, adding that Clinton’s supporters are “ready to go to war.”
Meanwhile, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump held a rally in Hershey, Pennsylvania, appealing to crowds to cast their vote for him — without any bells and whistles.
“I don’t have to bring J. Lo or Jay Z,” the 70-year-old businessman told the crowd. “I am here all by myself. Just me. No guitar, no piano, no nothing.”
