Way past his bedtime! Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, couldn’t keep his eyes open during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, on Thursday, July 21. Watch the amusing moment (and all the highlights from the big night) in the video above!
The 10-year-old was caught yawning several times while sitting next to his mom, Melania Trump, especially during his dad’s 75-minute speech. He appeared to be bored, covered his face and at one point the former model, 46, even seemed to give him a quick glare.
The pair sat by Donald’s four eldest children at the event, Barron’s half-siblings Ivanka, Tiffany, Donald Jr., and Eric Trump. Following Donald’s address, the family joined him on stage inside the Quicken Loans Arena. Barron didn’t smile, but seemed mesmerized with the confetti and balloons that followed.
Last year, Melania opened up about motherhood and raising the couple’s son during an interview with Parenting magazine.
“I am a full time mom; that is my first job. The most important job ever. I started my business when he started school. When he is in school I do my meetings, my sketches, and everything else,” she said of her QVC jewelry line. “I cook him breakfast. Bring him to school. Pick him up. Prepare his lunch. I spend the afternoon with him. Sometimes I have obligations, but I also think children need to see a parent do what her passion is. It is a good example for a child.”
Back in February, Melania exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about Donald’s relationship with Barron. “We always spend quality time together over the weekends. He and Barron golf together when it’s possible. They have a great admiration for each other, a great love and respect,” she said. “Barron reminds me of my husband, and my husband says he reminds him of me. He knows everything that’s going on, and he asks a lot of questions. He’s very, very smart, very energetic. He’s a special boy.”
As seen on Thursday, Barron is growing up — and fast. Nevertheless, Melania still calls him her “little Donald.”
“He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants,” she told Parenting magazine. “Sometimes I call him little Donald. He is a mixture of us in looks, but his personality is why I call him little Donald.”
