The rest is still unwritten! Pop rockers Avril Lavigne and Ryan Cabrera were spotted out buying pumpkins together on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Beverly Hills. And millennials’ hearts immediately started fluttering at the idea that these two could be romantically linked. (A source tells Us Weekly that the pair are “just friends.”)
Ashlee Simpson’s musician ex, 33, wore a wide-brimmed black hat, white T-shirt, and Mickey Mouse kicks while he carried two pumpkins home. The Canadian Grammy nominee, 31, wore a black dress with a skeleton print, accidentally suffering a wardrobe malfunction when her slip moved and revealed her breast from under the sheer top layer.
The pair have not confirmed a romantic relationship, but fans are buzzing after Lavigne’s split from husband Chad Kroeger of Nickelback in September.
The coupling would oddly make sense, considering how their exes are linked. Lavigne famously dated Hills star Brody Jenner for several years, splitting in 2012, but not before they got matching tattoos and Jenner got a tattoo on his forearm of the name “Avril.”
That’s where the six degrees of Hills separation come in. On the hit MTV reality series, Jenner, 32, briefly hooked up with costar Audrina Patridge in the sixth and final season during a trip to Costa Rica. Patridge, 30, also dated Cabrera on the show, famously bursting into tears over her conflicted feelings toward him at one of his concerts when he dedicated a love song to her.
Despite her split from Kroeger, Lavigne has remained close with her ex. On Oct. 3, she posted an Instagram photo of herself wearing a cowboy hat and playing a guitar, with the caption, “YeeHaw! Writing with Chad today.”
