Once upon a time Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher were happy and in love.
But the fairytale is over. On Thursday, Moore, 49, announced that she and Kutcher, 33, were ending their marriage.
"I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi," the Two and a Half Men star tweeted. "Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail."
Moore told Us Weekly that it was "with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton."
"As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life," she said.
Kutcher infamously had a one-night stand with San Diego party girl Sara Leal, 22, in the wee hours of Sept. 24 of this year — Kutcher and Moore's sixth wedding anniversary.

It was the first marriage for Kutcher, and the third for Moore, who divorced singer Freddy Moore in the mid-1980s, and fellow actor Bruce Willis in 2000. Married for 13 years, she and Willis, 56, share three daughters: Rumer, 23, Scout, 20, and Tallulah, 17.
