Jane-approved! Jane the Virgin actress Gina Rodriguez tells Us Weekly that she loved America Ferrera and Eva Longoria‘s jokes at the 2016 Golden Globes about how Latina actresses are oftentimes mistaken for each other.
Taking to the stage to present the award for Best Actor in a TV Drama, Ferrera, 31, and Longoria, 40, poked fun at the Golden Globes’ official Twitter account for mistaking Ferrera for Rodriguez during the nominations ceremony in December.
“Hi, I’m Eva Longoria, not Eva Mendes,” the Telenovela star said.
Ferrera then chimed in and introduced herself. “I’m America Ferrera,” the Ugly Betty alum said. “Not Gina Rodriguez.”
“And neither one of us are Rosario Dawson,” Longoria added.
“Well said, Salma,” Ferrera noted to her co-presenter.
“Thank you, Charo,” Longoria replied.
Inside the Beverly Hilton hotel, Rodriguez told Us Weekly their banter was on point. “I liked it and think it’s funny!” the CW star, 31, said. “I thought their speech was funny, we have the same expression and I think other people care more than I do. But we do look alike, me and America!”
On December 10, the show’s official Twitter account mixed up Ferrera — who was announcing the nominees — with Rodriguez. “@HereIsGina is kicking off the @goldenglobes nominations announcements,” the account wrote at the time, before issuing a follow-up tweet using Ferrera’s handle.
