Quite the protective mama bear! Jade Tolbert opened up about her parenting style and revealed how she’ll react when daughter Emerson starts dating.
“High school boys are bad news. I’m not going to let her loose,” The Bachelor alum, 31, teases in the new issue of Us Weekly. “My daughter’s a jewel!”
Husband Tanner Tolbert then chimed in, telling Us that Jade will definitely be stricter when it comes to their little one’s love life. “I’m pretty laid-back usually, so I don’t see myself getting too crazy,” he shared. Added Jade, “That’s going to be me!”
The former model and the car dealer, 30, who fell in love and got engaged on Bachelor in Paradise season 2, also spoke about the possibility of Emerson’s future friends watching them on TV. “People may make fun of it,” Jade noted. Tanner said in agreement, “I’m sure it’ll wear off by the time she’s old enough to know. People will forget who we are.”
The ABC stars exclusively told Us in February that they would allow Emerson to try her hand at love on The Bachelor. “It’d be hypocritical of us to tell our kid not to go on a show like that when we both did it,” Tanner explained. “Would I steer her in that direction? No. But if she wanted to, I would.”
Although she’s the more protective parent, Jade echoed her husband’s remarks. “I hope she has bigger aspirations than our path. I hope she does bigger and better things than wheat we chose to do,” she gushed. “If she wanted to, we would support her.”
Jade and Tanner tied the knot in a televised ceremony in Mexico in February 2016. The Nutrisystem partners welcomed their baby girl in August 2017.
