This calls for a celebration! Royal watchers flocked to Twitter on Monday, October 15, after Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan announced that they are expecting their first child.
The hashtag #RoyalBaby quickly became the top worldwide trending topic on the social media platform, as did the names of the parents-to-be and their royal residence, Kensington Palace. Meghan (née Markle) is due to give birth to her little one (who will be seventh in line to the British throne) in the spring of 2019.

British Prime Minister Theresa May was among the first to congratulate the Suits alum, 37, and the prince, 34, writing on Twitter, “My warmest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their happy news they are expecting a baby in the spring. Wishing them all the best.”
One Twitter user tweeted a photo of Bishop Michael Curry, who made headlines for delivering a rousing sermon at Harry and Meghan’s May 19 wedding, alongside the caption, “‘Someone say something about a Christening?’ #RoyalBaby.”

Many fans joked that the newlyweds got down to business rather quickly. The Suits alum is believed to be due around April 2019, suggesting the baby was conceived in July, two months after the royal wedding.
“Harry ain’t wasting any time,” one person tweeted alongside a GIF of the former Army helicopter pilot pretending to do a mic-drop and saying, “Boom!”

Kensington Palace said in a statement early Monday that Meghan and Harry, who arrived in Australia hours earlier for a royal tour, “have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
The palace said in a separate statement that the former actress’ mother, Doria Ragland, is “very happy about this lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.”
