Say his name, say his name! Teen Mom OG’s Maci Bookout revealed the name she’s chosen for her third child in a Wednesday, April 13, interview with MTV News. The reality star decided on a unique moniker: Maverick Reed.
Bookout — who shares daughter Jayde, 11 months, with boyfriend Taylor McKinney, and son Bentley, 7, with ex Ryan Edwards — explained why she chose the name for her son, who’s due on May 30.
“Maverick was actually one of our boy name choices when we were pregnant with Jayde before we knew it was a girl,” the Bulletproof author, 24, said. “Reed is a family name for both our families.”
Prior to picking Maverick, Bookout said that she and her beau considered “Connor for the first name,” but decided Maverick “went better with the names Bentley and Jayde.”
In February 2016, the MTV personality opened up to Us Weekly about learning of her surprise pregnancy.
“I was at the doctor, ironically, to get my birth control prescription refilled!” the young mom recalled to Us. After the doctor told Bookout she couldn’t get the ’script because she was pregnant, the Tennessee native was dumbfounded.
“I laughed at her!” Bookout said at the time. “I mean, she’s the doctor that delivered Jayde, so I was like, ‘Ha ha, that’s a funny joke — but it’s not really that funny!’ And she was like, ‘No, seriously!’ And I was like, ‘Oh, OK — well, give me 10 minutes to not freak out … You’re wrong. You’ve got the wrong results, you mixed them up.’ But no, she was serious!”
The 16 & Pregnant alum’s family and friends were shocked by the news, too. “I mean, even we were completely speechless, and every time I shared the news with someone, I said, ‘OK, are you sitting down?’ And then I said, ‘Feel free to say ‘holy s–t’ or congratulations because both are fine,’” she joked to Us. “Because that’s pretty much how I’ve been the whole time!”
Bookout got engaged to McKinney, 26, in January, just days before she found out she was expecting. The couple told Us that they plan on tying the knot in October after they adjust to becoming a family of five.
