Soleil Moon Frye is expecting her third child — a baby boy! — in mid-February, but that doesn’t mean the former Punky Brewster actress and busy mom of daughters Poet, 8, and Jagger, 5, is taking it easy this winter. In fact, the DIY diva — who just released her kid-friendly entertaining book Let’s Get This Party Started! — tells Us Weekly her family loves spending time outdoors making memories rather than hanging at the house.
One of the first places Moon Frye, 37, heads when her she has a day to spare with her girls and film producer husband Jason Goldberg? The Happiest Place on Earth, of course: Disneyland! “We love going to Disneyland,” the West Coast-based mom — who hosts OWN’s Home Made Simple and has her own Moonfrye app tells Us.
Always eager to teach her daughters about local culture and customs, Moon Frye encourages them to explore their surroundings by setting up scavenger hunts in the L.A. metro area, and deposits envelopes with clues to their next location around town.
“I never realized that as a mom I’d learn more from my kids then I could ever teach them. I thought I’d give them all this wisdom, and they’re my biggest teachers,” Moon Frye explains of her inquisitive daughters, who have been outside of L.A. to faraway places like India with their mom, who works with her girls to help give back in various ways to the J/P Haitian Relief Organization. “They’re constantly inspiring me.”
