Rainbow baby! Shay Mitchell announced that she is pregnant with her first child after suffering a miscarriage.
“Does this mean I’m allowed to drive in the car pool lane at all times now?” the Pretty Little Liars alum, 32, captioned her Friday, June 28, Instagram announcement.
In the topless photo, the actress rested an arm on her bare baby bump while rocking black pants, silver earrings and a top knot.
This pregnancy news comes five months after the You star revealed on her Instagram Story that she had miscarried.
“Although it was an amazing year it didn’t come without hardships,” the model wrote at the time. She went on to share photos from the past 12 months, including a sonogram of a baby and a broken heart emoji.
“We all have to deal with various struggles and challenges in life,” Mitchell wrote in a follow up. “And sometimes it’s easier to only showcase the good times on social media, which is what leads many people to criticize it for its lack of authenticity. Having so many people follow me on Instagram and read my posts is both incredibly humbling and hugely uplifting.”
She added, “The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I miscarried and lost the child of my hopes and dreams. In the spirit of the new year, I think that we need to remember that we are all on this journey together—in good times and in bad—and to remind ourselves that we seldom really know or understand the struggles and hardships that other people are going through.”
With that, Mitchell set a New Year’s resolution. “So, for 2019, let’s all try to be a little more compassionate, empathetic, patient and thoughtful with each other,” she wrote. “Happy New Year everyone!”
The Bliss author was most recently linked to Matte Babel, a Canadian host and music reporter, after they were spotted on an October 2018 dinner date at Craig’s restaurant in Los Angeles.
