In case anyone wants to send Cardi B a baby gift, she’s having a girl!
The pregnant 25-year-old rapper revealed the sex of her baby during a Wednesday, May 9, appearance on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio show. When the shock jock asked the mom-to-be if she has a named picked out, she explained that she’s going with hip-hop artist fiancé Offset’s choice.
“You know what? I didn’t pick the name,” she told Stern, 64. “So if you interview my dude, he will tell you.”
Before confirming that she’s expecting a girl, Cardi B repeatedly referred to her baby as “she” during an interview with The New York Times published on Tuesday, May 8.
“Shorty weighs 3 1/2 pounds,” Cardi B declared. “She do! She do weigh 3 1/2 pounds. That’s pretty good for seven months because I was born 5 pounds.”
The performer’s sister, Hennessy Carolina, also hinted the sex of the baby in April. “I’m going to be able to hold ur baby and give her all the kisses and hugs,” wrote the social media star on Instagram, according to The Shade Room. Carolina later changed the wording in her post to read “give the baby all kisses and hugs.”
Cardi B is expecting her bundle of joy in July. She announced the news during a Saturday Night Live appearance in April by revealing her bump in a skintight white dress.
Cardi B revealed in April that she was taking a break from performing to focus on her pregnancy. “Shorty keeps growing and I be looking like I be moving everything,” she said in a video message on Instagram. “But in reality, a bitch can barely breathe.”
She vowed to return to the stage in September, when she will open for Bruno Mars on the next leg of his 24K Magic world tour.
A source told Us Weekly the entertainer has been working on brand deals at her Edgewater, New Jersey, condo while she waits for her home to be built in Atlanta. “She’s been taking a ton of meetings with designers for her Fashion Nova Line,” the insider said. “She stopped doing shows, but she isn’t letting the pregnancy slow her down.”
