A dancer in the making. Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy may have a future ballroom pro on their hands, she says in the new in the new issue of Us Weekly.
“He loves music,” she tells Us of 14-month-old Shai. “We’re trying to introduce him to that every day.”
But since it’s too early to tell, for now, “he sits on our hip and we take him around the room and dance with him,” the Dancing With the Stars standout, 31, says. “He loves that.”
The pair have been traveling all over with their son since they’re on a dance tour with his uncle, Val Chmerkovskiy. “Looking back at that first year of his life, he’s traveled quite a bit,” the new dad, 38, told Us in February. The couple, who tied the knot in July 2017 at Oheka Castle in Long Island, New York, also shared that they are ready for more children. “I can’t wait for more,” Chmerkovskiy told Us. “He would have a baby every year if he could!” his wife added. “That means I would be constantly fat. I think three is a good number.”
“Maybe in a year it would be nice. They would still be close in age,” Murgatroyd said about a second baby, adding that she’s hoping for a girl this time. “I just love Shai so much, I don’t know how I would share that with another boy.”
The couple announced that they were expecting their first child together in June 2016 with an adorable Instagram post that showed Chmerkovskiy kissing Murgatroyd’s belly. The dancer gave birth to Shai in January 2017.
