Happy Bey-day! Olivia Wilde appeared on the Thursday, March 10, episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she opened up about her son Otis’ obsession with Beyoncé — and how she plans to throw him a Queen Bey–themed bash for his second birthday.
Wilde, who celebrated her 32nd birthday the day she stopped by DeGeneres’ show, admitted that her big day isn’t as exciting to her since having Otis with fiancé Jason Sudeikis in 2014.
“Once you have a kid, their birthdays are much more fun to think about,” the actress said. “So all I’m thinking about is Otis’ birthday next month, which is number 2, which is a lot more exciting than 32. That is going to be the party to be at!”
For die-hard Beyonce fan Otis, Wilde knows there can be only one way for him to celebrate turning 2 on April 20. “It’s gonna be a Beyoncé listening party appreciation dance-off,” she revealed. “His love for Beyoncé has really hit a fever pitch and I approve, of course, but it’s intense.”
Asked how her little guy’s fixation with the “Formation” singer began, Wilde explained: “Well, he, you know how a lot of moms have on their iPads, like a kids’ show, like an appropriate-for-kids program, like an Elmo and such? I didn’t and we were on an airplane and I needed, as many of you know, a distraction tool immediately, and all I had was all of Beyoncé’s videos from her last album. And so I just put those on for him.”
“He was really taken and he really zoned in on one in particular. The one, ‘Yonce,’ which is arguably the most sexually explicit video ever made. And he was like, ‘yeah yeah,’” the Vinyl star added. “And from that point on he called her ‘Beyoncé boobies,’ which I think is great. Because most people, if you’re gonna call her [something], you call her like ‘Beyoncé booty.’ But he right now is still here [motions to chest area]. He’s still thinking in this zone.”
DeGeneres, 58, then surprised Wilde with a set of party decorations for Otis’ upcoming Beyoncé-inspired affair — complete with a life-size cutout of the Grammy-winning superstar.
