Kim Kardashian to the rescue! The E! reality star has joined Kelly Rutherford’s Gossip Girl costars in the hopes of getting Rutherford’s kids back. Rutherford, who has been in a bitter six-year-long international custody battle with her ex Daniel Giersch urged supporters to sign her petition after she lost custody last month.
“I signed this petition bc I believe it's the right thing to do & if u believe in it please sign it @KellyRutherford,” Kardashian tweeted on Tuesday, May 12, along with a link to Rutherford’s petition to the White House. “I usually don't get involved in other people's lives especially if I don't know them but this story I've been following & as a mom touched me…I know I don't know you @KellyRutherford,” Kanye West’s wife added, “But as a mom I feel your pain and I wish you the best of luck! I hope you see your babies soon!”
Those close to Rutherford, including her CW costars, have also lent their support. Ed Weswick, who played Rutherford’s stepson in the drama, tweeted: “This is my friend @KellyRutherford. You (yes, you) have the power to help her get her kids back,” along with the link.

Rutherford’s on-screen romance Matthew Settle was first to jump onboard, posting an Instagram of himself holding up a sign for Rutherford almost two months ago. “@kellyrutherford @childrensjusticecampaign #bringkellyskidshome,” he captioned the snap.
Last month, Rutherford sat down with Good Morning America and spoke out about losing her custody battle. "I know it's not right. Parents know — everyone knows it's not right," the 46-year-old, who is mom to Hermes, 5, and Helena, 3, said. “I can sit here and tell you how often I cry. I can tell you how it feels to leave my kids in a foreign country and seeing them after not seeing them for weeks on end. Not being able to bring them from school and pick them up from school, dress them, hug them, smell them."
Rutherford’s fight started after she and her German ex-husband Daniel Giersch divorced in 2010. Giersch was refused re-entry into the States and in December 2013 it was determined that he no longer had to pay for their children to visit the star. Rutherford, who filed for bankruptcy amidst the drama, resides in New York City.
On Mother’s Day, Rutherford thanked fans and her pals for all the support. “Thank all of U who are sharing & signing the petition,” she tweeted. "Thank U for caring about the situation w/ my kids and #childrensrights almost there."
