Not enough! Kelly Ripa shares three kids with her husband, Mark Consuelos, but admitted she would have liked one more on a Tuesday, February 5, episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan.
“I am regretful that we didn’t have more,” Ripa, 48, told her cohost, Ryan Seacrest. “There is [sic] many different reasons. First of all, triangulation. When they are small … you always have two against one. It is just the way it is, it’s unavoidable.”
She added: “But I also just loved having them. I adore them as the grown-ups that they’ve become … but when they are tiny, they are just so adorable. And they say amazing things, and I miss all of that.”
The All My Children alum married Consuelos, 47, in 1996, and gave birth to her first child one year later. The couple now share Michael, 21, Lola, 17, and Joaquin, 15.
Ripa had babies on the brain because her close friend Andy Cohen announced the arrival of his first child via surrogate just hours earlier.
“WOW! This is my son, Benjamin Allen Cohen,” the Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen host, 50, captioned a father-son Instagram shot on Monday, February 4. “He is 9 lbs 2 ounces !! 20 inches !! Born at 6:35 pm, PT. He is named after my grandfather Ben Allen. I’m in love. And speechless. And eternally grateful to an incredible surrogate. And I’m a dad. Wow.”
In addition to congratulating the Bravo star and joking about “moving in next door” to him, Ripa opened up on her show about what a great dad Cohen is already. “He looks like he’s been born to do this his whole life,” the Emmy winner said. “I’m getting emotional because he has been at times a surrogate dad to my own kids. He is a great family man, and I am so happy and thrilled for you both because this baby is the luckiest baby.”
