For Joy-Anna Duggar, welcoming her first child last month with husband Austin Forsyth was a moment she will never forget.
“I just cried,” the Counting On star recalls giving birth to her son Gideon in the new issue of Us Weekly. “Holding him for the first time was incredible and I didn’t know that. It’s amazing the love that I have for him.”
While only a month has passed, the new mom says becoming a parent has definitely been a natural transition for her. “Before Gideon was born, I didn’t know how adjusting to motherhood would be like,” she tells Us. “But now that he’s here, I really can’t imagine life without him.”
And with the help of Austin, 24, the adjustment has been even easier: “Austin’s been helping me with waking up in the middle of the night, changing the baby’s diaper, any getting the baby for me.”
It also has strengthened their marriage. “Our relationship has grown even closer,” she says. “We’re working as a team and this is just another thing that we do as a team.”
And in just a month, the happily married couple says they’re so excited to watch their healthy boy grow. “He is growing and changing so much every day,” she gushes.
