Josh Kelley got the best wake-up call ever when his wife, Katherine Heigl, rang him up at his hotel with her pregnancy news. “I was so pumped I flew right home!” the musician told Us Weekly at the Rock for Research Summer Concert presented by Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors in Beverly Hills on Sunday, June 26. “She told me right when she knew.”
Kelley, 36, and the Grey’s Anatomy alum, 37, are expecting a baby boy. The couple are already parents to daughters Adalaide, 4, and Naleigh, 7.
“With Adalaide, you know, we adopted her from birth, so we got that experience. Naleigh, we got her when she was 9 months old, so this obviously is our first time going through this,” Kelley told Us. “It’s exciting and super new.”
Just like their parents, Adalaide and Naleigh are bursting with excitement about the new addition to the family. “They ask about the baby all the time,” the “It’s Your Move” singer revealed. “Adalaide asks more than Naleigh because she’s so curious. [She’s] 4 … and she thinks the baby is supposed to be here tomorrow, and it’s hilarious.”
Meanwhile, Heigl is already hard at work prepping for No. 3. “That girl is always prepared! I don’t know if you’ve seen her blog, Those Heavenly Days, but she’s like the craftiest person in the world. She’s like our Martha Stewart,” Kelley gushed. “She’s the craftiest person I’ve ever seen in my entire life. And I was an art major! Right when we found out it was a boy, she started making stuff … crocheting, knitting, everything.”
Though Kelley can’t wait to meet his “little golfing buddy,” he does have one concern: “I’ve only changed diapers for girls my whole life, so I don’t know. I’ll have to learn that world a little bit!”
Kelley and Heigl mainly reside in Utah. They met on the set of his “Only You” music video in 2005 and wed in December 2007. They adopted Naleigh in 2009 and Adalaide in 2012.
