Happy family? Jenelle Evans and her estranged mother, Barbara Evans, appear to be burying the hatchet — at least for the time being — for the sake of Jenelle’s 9-year-old son, Jace.
The Teen Mom 2 star took to Instagram on Thursday, August 23, with several sweet family photos of herself snuggling up to her boy, one of which included the child’s grandmother.
“Whatever makes him happy,” the reality vet, 26, captioned the gallery, adding the telling hashtags of “#FamilyTime #IceCream #Yogurt” and “#CoolingOff.”
Barbara revealed on the show’s reunion episode, which aired on August 13, that she fears for her daughter’s safety around husband David Eason, with whom she shares son Kaiser, 4. “I don’t feel Jenelle is OK,” she said.
The reality star also shared that she fears for her own life around Eason, 30, saying, “I’m going to be the first one shot cause I live the closest. It scares me. He could come over and kill me at any time.”
The couple had served Barbara with cease and desist papers in November 2017 — similar to ones sent to Jenelle’s costars Chelsea Houska and Kailyn Lowry — over what Jenelle called “false statements about alleged drug and child abuse” made by Barbara as well as “bad language” directed toward her daughter.
Barbara reacted with a statement to Radar Online at the time, saying, “I don’t say anything that isn’t true. I don’t make up stuff. I think it is comical myself. My lawyer said, ‘What is this? Oh, my God. They are crazy.’”
The trio previously battled it out in court for custody of Jace, which ended with Barbara receiving permanent custody of her grandson in September 2017 and Jenelle receiving visitation rights.
The legal proceedings left a damaged relationship between mother and daughter in their wake, however, with Jenelle saying at the time, “I don’t consider her as my mom anymore,” Jenelle said. “She’s completely ruined our relationship.”
