Ellen Pompeo’s kids — Stella, 8, Sienna, 3, and 17-month-old Eli — are regulars on the set of Grey’s Anatomy. But they better not get any ideas about acting. Especially her oldest.
“She has to wait until she’s 18,” Pompeo, 48, told Us Weekly on Tuesday, May 1. “You know, she can do whatever she wants when she’s 18. And then she’ll still have to deal me being glued to her 24 hours a day!”
But kidding aside, the ABC star says she would be OK with Stella following in her footsteps. “I try not to judge her choices,” Pompeo told Us. “I just want to be there to support her.”
Though Pompeo works “such long hours,” she makes a point to be present when she’s home with her three children and husband of 10 years, Chris Ivery. One of her favorite activities is when they all roll up their sleeves in the kitchen. “I’m actually a terrible baker, but I think baking is such a great way to teach them math,” Pompeo explained to Us. “You know, it’s a half a cup of this, and a quarter cup of this.”
Family hikes are hit or miss — mainly because of Sienna. “My oldest daughter loves it. The little baby of course, he loves it too, because he just gets pushed in a stroller,” said Pompeo. “The 3-year-old is a little iffy on the hikes. She gets tired halfway up.”
Lately, the kids’ bedtime routine has involved a massage with Young Essentials’ new Seedling line of baby products. “My babies all smell amazing,” Pompeo, who partnered with the brand, raved to Us. “I’m always rubbing them. My kids are always like, ‘Mama, what are you rubbing on me now?’
Pompey wishes she had more time with Stella, Sienna and Eli. And she may soon get it. With the hit medical drama in its 14 season, Pompeo told Us “there is an end and it’s nearing.”
Grey’s Anatomy airs on ABC Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
