Keeping it quick! Duchess Meghan doesn’t want to extend her maternity leave after she welcomes her first child with Prince Harry, a source reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly.
The Suits alum, 37, “plans to return to work as soon as possible,” the insider tells Us. “She came into the royal family with so many goals and plans on forging ahead.”
With this choice, Meghan isn’t following in Duchess Kate‘s footsteps. Her sister-in-law, also 37, attended her first post-baby royal engagement nearly six months after giving birth to Prince Louis. The royal visited London’s Paddington Recreation Ground, which is a 10-minute drive from her home at Kensington Palace.
Before that, Kate only appeared for family events, including Meghan and Harry’s royal wedding, her son’s christening and Trooping the Colour.
Five months after their May 2018 wedding, Meghan and Harry, 34, confirmed that they are expecting. “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” Kensington Palace said in a statement in October 2018.
Three months later, the Los Angeles native told well-wishers in Birkenhead, England, a more specific due date — late April or early May.
