Derek Jeter has taken on several new roles since playing his final game with the New York Yankees in 2014. He became a husband to Hannah Jeter in July 2016 and was named the CEO of the Miami Marlins the following September. But his most important title came in August 2017, when he and Hannah welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Bella Raine.
“By far the most gratifying thing I’ve ever been a part of,” Derek, 43, gushed during an interview with CBS This Morning’s Jeff Glor on Wednesday, February 14. “Regardless of how your day went at work, when you get home and you see a smile on your daughter’s face, it makes it all worthwhile.”
But the former shortstop hasn’t introduced Bella, 5 months, to the MLB world just yet. When asked if the infant has a baseball of her own, Derek laughed and responded, “She doesn’t. She throws things, though.”
Shortly after their little girl’s arrival, a source told Us Weekly exclusively that Derek and Hannah, 27, are “over the moon” about becoming first-time parents. “They’re really enjoying spending time with Bella and raising her out of the spotlight,” the insider said in September. “This has all been very exciting for them.”
It didn’t take long for the 14-time MLB All-Star to adjust to fatherhood. “He’s already a pro with Bella and has been so hands-on with her since the day she was born,” the source told Us. “It’s really sweet.”
