A haircut was on the agenda when Collin Gosselin came home for the weekend. Proud dad Jon Gosselin shared a photo of the 14-year-old showing off his new chop at Mike & Joe’s Barber Salon in Reading, Pennsylvania, on Monday, November 5.
The Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum sent fans into a frenzy on Sunday, when he Instagrammed a rare photo of Collin. In the picture, the teen, who lives at a residential facility, poses with his sister Hannah. (The DJ, 41, and his ex-wife Kate Gosselin are parents of sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Aaeden and Joel. They also share 18-year-old twins Cara and Madelyn.)
Back in 2010, Kate, 43, revealed that Collin would be attending a program for children with special needs. In a letter, published in her book I Just Want You to Know, the TLC personality explained that Collin was “sweet, kind and helpful” but had behavioral issues.
“Collin is very intelligent. He was always questioning Kate and talking back,” a source close to Jon exclusively tells Us Weekly. “Kate doesn’t like that.”
According to the source, Collin is thriving at a new facility, where he does not have access to a television. Jon is in close contact with the program’s staff. “They work closely with Jon and really do care about Collin,” the source adds.
Jon and Kate divorced in 2009 after 10 years of marriage. Hannah lives with Jon full-time while the other children remain with Kate. Per the source, Hannah has been with her father for nearly a year now.
Kate has defended her decision to send Collin to school away from home. “It was not even really a choice, it was on the advice of his doctors and it had to happen,” she explained on a November 2016 episode of ABC’s Nightline. “He’s plodding along and we are too. This is the best thing I can do for him right now and that comforts me.”
That same year, Jon told Us he was “in the dark” about Collin’s treatment. “I don’t see Collin ever,” he said at the time. “I am totally estranged from Collin because of Kate.”
