Busy Philipps is, well, busy. The actress is filming her upcoming E! talk show Busy Tonight and she’s promoting her memoir This Will Only Hurt a Little. And it’s been little rough on her 5-year-old daughter, Cricket.
“My little one is not used to me working this much,” Philipps told Us Weekly at a Tropicana Kids event in New York City on Tuesday, August 7. “She’s used to having me all the time.”
The star, who also shares Birdie, 9, with husband Marc Silverstein, noted when she filmed Cougar Town, Cricket was only 18 months old. And when Philipps filmed HBO series Vice Principals, she was only on set two days a week at most.
“It’s been little bit of a transition, me going to work every single day,” the Dawson’s Creek alum told Us. “She doesn’t understand. [She is like] ‘Why do you have to work all time?’” Philipps responded by explaining to Birdie that her jobs afford the family things such as private school and private gym classes.
Philipps is confident things will get easier for Birdie when school starts back up in a few weeks. “I think it’s because I started working the show during the summer, it’s more noticeable,” she told Us, adding that her youngest will “figure it out.”
And though the I Feel Pretty actress is grateful for her booming career she admits that sometimes she is overcome with feelings of guilt. “Sometimes I have those days where I’m like, ‘I was a bad mom today,’” she admitted. “I fall into that trap where you say the thing that you’re not supposed to say, as a mom.”
Philipps’ book comes out on October 23.
