All worth it in the end! Ali Fedotowsky recalled the harrowing ordeal she endured before giving birth to her daughter, Molly, in a new interview on PodcastOne’s “LadyGang” podcast.
The season 6 Bachelorette, 32, revealed to Glee alum Becca Tobin and Insider host Keltie Knight that her doctor accidentally broke her water during a routine checkup, one week before her actual due date.
“Horrible. I don’t even know if I’ve talked about this, but my doctor broke my water by accident,” she said Tuesday, December 6. “I was on her table, and she was feeling to feel if I was dilated. And she stuck her finger up there, and she’s like. ‘You’re not really. Maybe an inch, a tight inch.’ And I was like, ‘Can you do that membrane sweep thing?’ I was so over it. So she sticks her fingers up, and they basically like, I don’t know, sweep the inside of you, and ‘pop!’ It’s like an audible ‘pop’ and ‘gush.'”
With that, the Ali Luvs blogger settled into a hospital room with her fiancé, Kevin Manno. She was in labor for 22 hours and threw up several times because of all the drugs that she was on. (Back in July, Fedotowsky told Us Weekly that her epidural stopped working.)
One day later, the couple exclusively confirmed to Us the birth of their daughter, Molly. The newborn weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and measured 22 inches.
Fedotowsky told Tobin and Knight that Manno, 33, “bawled his eyes out” during the delivery. “I told him before, ‘You need to stay north of my waist. I do not want you down there looking down there. You will never want to have sex with me again!'” she said Tuesday. But after two hours of pushing, she finally caved and let him look. She used a mirror to watch Molly arrive too.
Fedotowsky wasn’t high maintenance during labor but did joke that she put mascara on. She didn’t get a bikini wax ahead of time either, but that’s because she’s “had laser down there.”
The TV personality and Manno always wanted a family, but decided to start trying on a whim. “It was on the Fourth of July and we were both drunk in our pool making out and we’re like, ‘Let’s make a baby!'” she said, laughing. “‘Let’s start practicing right now!'”
