That’s dedication! Alexander Skarsgård has revealed he had to eat a whopping 7,000 calories a day to make sure he had enough muscle for his awesome Legend of Tarzan body.
The 39-year-old star has a veritable eight-pack in promotional pictures for his forthcoming movie. But talking to Mr. Porter’s The Journal, the loincloth-wearing star revealed bulking up for the role took some doing.
The blond-haired hunk reveals he spent three months laying down weight, and gained 25 pounds by eating “an insane” amount of calories (three times his usual intake) and lifting heavy weights.
Then, once he got to London to actually start filming, the Swedish actor embarked “on a very strict sugar-, gluten-, wheat-, dairy- and alcohol-free diet of six smaller meals per day alongside his twice-daily training sessions,” Mr. Porter’s The Journal writes.
Alex picked his own trainer, his friend Magnus Lygdbäck, to assist with the transformation, rather than use one of the studio’s go-to people. “When you have to see the same person every morning at 4:30 a.m., it’s important you get on well with them,” he said.
