About

Before finding television fame, Sam Heughan was born in a small town in Scotland and later graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2003.

During his time at school, the Scotland native performed in the play Outlying Islands and was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Performer. Heughan’s first professional television role was in the series Island at War in 2004. Since then the actor has starred in numerous TV shows and movies including The Spy Who Dumped Me, The Empty Train and Bloodshot.

However, his most prominent role is as Jamie Fraser, a 17th century highlander, in the Starz drama series Outlander, which premiered in 2014. He and costar Caitriona Balfe became producers in season 5, which aired in 2020. The author won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy Actor in 2017 and the Saturn Award for Best Actor on Television in 2019.

Apart from acting, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama alum also co-wrote Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other alongside Outlander star Graham McTavish in 2020. That same year, Heughan launched his own liquor brand, Sassenach Spirits. He released his memoir, Waypoints, in November 2022.

Although he keeps most of his relationships private, the It’s All Coming Back to Me star has been linked to MacKenzie Mauzy, Cody Kennedy, Abbie Salt and Monika Clarke.
