Three of Casey Kasem's children and his brother have filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Los Angeles' superior court against his widow, Jean Kasem.
The Associated Press reports that the lawsuit accuses Jean of elder abuse and inflicting emotional distress on the radio legend's children from a previous marriage, by restricting access to their father before he passed away.
"Casey's early death occurred as a direct and proximate result of Jean's neglect and physical abuse of Casey," the lawsuit alleges, according to AP.
The American Top 40 host was suffering from Lewy body dementia and a severe bedsore at the time of his death back in June 2014, aged 82.
Kerri, Julie, and Michael Kasem, his children, are joined in the suit by their uncle Mourner Kasem, brother to the late radio personality. The lawsuit seeks more than $250,000 damages.
"We would rather see her in jail than receive one dime," Kerri Kasem said on Wednesday, Nov. 25. "We don't care about the money. We care about justice."
As Us Weekly reported previously, Kasem's daughter Kerri announced her father's death on Facebook earlier in the year, and a month later reported that his body had gone missing.
He was eventually buried, six months after his death, in Norway, without the consultation with his children.
