How do you say “thank you” in Spanish? Eva Longoria opened up about her recent engagement to businessman Jose “Pepe” Antonio Baston on the Today show on Monday, January 4, and joked about their upcoming wedding.
“We haven’t even discussed it,” the Telenovela actress, 40, shared. “I’m still in the glow of the engagement.”
Baston proposed to the Desperate Housewives alum on December 13, in a scenic arid region of the Middle East, where they had traveled for a charity foundation event. “It was such a surprise,” Longoria gushed of her beau’s proposal. “It was in Dubai, in the desert.”
Us Weekly confirmed in November 2013 that Longoria and the Mexican business executive, 46, were an item. “He’s super sweet to her,” a source told Us at the time. “And a complete gentleman.”
This will be the third marriage for the star, who was previously married to Tyler Christopher and NBA star Tony Parker. “I’m still applauding him for how beautiful and amazing it was,” Longoria said on Monday of Baston’s grand gesture. “Then we’ll talk about the big fat Mexican wedding.”
Longoria, whose parents are Mexican-American, told the Today show on Monday that her latest project is an accurate depiction of her past cultural struggle. “It’s kind of my life. She plays a Spanish soap star who does not speak Spanish, and that was my life growing up,” Longoria said of Telenovela. “I’m Latino but I didn’t speak Spanish. I’ve learned it since, but I was always a fish out of water in my own culture.”
