Trying to keep it in the family! After Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen turned down Fuller House producers’ offers to reprise their role as Michelle Tanner on the upcoming Netflix reboot, creator Jeff Franklin decided to try one more obvious option.
“I didn’t do it, I think Jeff Franklin did it,” John Stamos told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show. “I said, ‘Call the sister [Elizabeth Olsen].’ We talked to her agent and her agent was like, ‘Psh, come on. She’s not going to do that.’ But we did call her agent.”
The 26-year-old younger sister of the fashion designer twins has been making a name for herself as an actress over the past five years. She is next set to reprise her Avengers role as Wanda Maximoff in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.
Stamos, 52, doesn’t fault Elizabeth’s sisters, 29, for passing on the opportunity to return to acting, either.
“It was funny, I was talking to Lori [Loughlin] about it, and I said, ‘How can they not do this? It made a lot for them, for their family, for their sister,’” Stamos recalled of his conversation with his TV wife. “And she said, ‘You know, they just won a CFDA award for women’s clothing. They’re in a different place.’”
The same day that he spoke with Cohen, Stamos also did a radio interview with his pal Howard Stern, when the topic of the Netflix revival and the Olsen twins came up once more.
“They decided not to [be on the show], which I respect,” he said of The Row designers. “They were very, very sweet. They seemed into it. They just were afraid of acting. They hadn’t acted. They don’t consider each other actresses.”
