Spinning their wheels? On the January 12 episode, Married at First Sight newlyweds David and Ashley share a cute evening out, but it still ends with David getting spurned in his attempt to land a kiss, as seen in Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak-peek clip.
The couple, who have struggled to connect since first meeting on the FYI series, take a ride on a Ferris wheel during their date. At first, things appear promising, with Ashley getting a kick out of David’s fear of heights.
“This is my forever moment right here — that time is now,” David tells the camera as the pair laugh together on the ride.
However, as the wheel comes to stop and David tries to heat things up by leaning in for a smooch, Ashley isn’t feeling it and instead just turns her cheek to him.
“Why won’t my wife kiss me?” David laments to the camera. “I’m very intuitive — I know there’s more to it. It’s not just because she moves slow. You could move slow, but there’s still progress. We have no progress.”

Married at First Sight airs on FYI Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST.
