A man is dead after he was found on fire outside of Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s London home, Kensington Palace, on Tuesday, February 9.
According to BBC News, a local hospital contacted authorities at around midnight about a patient who had gone missing.
Three hours later, the man was at the gates of the palace, reportedly behaving suspiciously. Authorities were then called to the royal residence at around 3 a.m. local time.
The man, who was in his forties, was on fire by the time police arrived. Despite efforts from firefighters and medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at 3:42 a.m., according to Sky News.
A Met Police spokesperson told BBC News: “This incident is not being treated as terrorist-related.”
A rep for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge told the outlet that neither Prince William nor Kate Middleton were at the home at the time. The parents of Prince George, 2, and Princess Charlotte, 9 months, have another home in the English countryside of Norfolk, England, known as Anmer Hall.
