Extra, extra! Danny Strong, who played Paris Geller’s (Liza Weil) fussy live-in boyfriend, Doyle McMaster, on Gilmore Girls, is returning for Netflix’s revival, TV Line reports.
Strong joined the series in season 4 as Rory Gilmore’s (Alexis Bledel) boss at the Yale Daily News. Doyle and Paris met through the newspaper, with the pair developing a sometimes-turbulent but ultimately enduring romance.
The couple was last seen in the series’ second-to-last episode as they prepared for a trip to India together. Weil is also returning for the reboot, suggesting that the idiosyncratic lovebirds might still be going strong.
Since Gilmore Girls, Strong has appeared on such series as Justified, Girls and Mad Men. He has also become an award-winning screenwriter and TV producer, working on Empire and the Hunger Games films.
Other previously confirmed returnees include Bledel, Weil, Lauren Graham (Lorelai), Scott Patterson (Luke), Kelly Bishop (Emily), Keiko Agena (Lane), Sean Gunn (Kirk), Yanic Truesdale (Michel), Matt Czuchry (Logan), Milo Ventimiglia (Jess), Jared Padalecki (Dean) and David Sutcliffe (Christopher).
Following months of speculation, Netflix confirmed last month that it is bringing back the popular series, which ran for seven seasons before signing off in May 2007.
The update will consist of four 90-minute episodes, each centered on a different season, although the revival’s title and launch date have not been announced.
