But who got the Thin Mints? Chris Rock won over the audience during the 88th Academy Awards on Sunday, February 28, at the Dolby Theatre in L.A. by handing out the tastiest snacks ever — Girl Scout cookies.
The Oscar host, 51, had a mission, though. Besides catering to attendees, he also wanted to raise money for his daughters Zahra and Lola’s Girl Scout troop.
“I want you to reach into your millionaire pockets and I want you to buy some of my daughters’ Girl Scout cookies. Look at my babies up there. Are you going to deny my princesses some cookies?” he joked, pointing to a photo of the troop on the screen.
“Tina Fey! Get that money, girl. Make that money,” he continued. “Charlize Theron. Yes. Yes. OK. You get them. You get them. Leo [DiCaprio]! You made $30 million. Come on. Come on! Michael B. Jordan‘s here. You know what? No, no, you got enough girls.”
Creed star Jordan was left empty-handed, but others dug in! Sam Smith and John Legend waved bills in the air, while Mindy Kaling posted about her yummy Caramel deLites, a.k.a. Samoas.
Kate Winslet and Matt Damon also grabbed boxes. The Martian star Damon was even spotted in the audience sharing his cookies with Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale and Chrissy Teigen. (In total, Rock raised $65,243!)
Rock’s not the only Oscar host who has handed out food. Ellen DeGeneres had pizza delivered during the live show when she hosted in 2014. Stars including Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Kerry Washington were more than happy to grab a slice.
