Criticism sure hurts! Seth Meyers couldn’t contain his laughter as he confronted Fuller House star John Stamos with some of the worst and meanest reviews his ’90s sitcom reboot has received.
In a hilarious bit, Meyers treats his guest with a full read-through of the scathing critical responses the show has been given, and some of them are so awful, neither he nor Stamos can control their hysterics.
“I was very nervous about doing this again, because it’s so beloved and I didn’t want to disappoint people,” Stamos said earnestly before the reviews were read out. “I read a couple of nice reviews … these were so wacky,” he added.
Meyers, evidently enjoying his role, then went on to read out the very worst reviews the show (and Stamos) had received.
“There’s a point where nostalgia becomes more like necrophilia,” Meyers read to his show guest. “And Fuller House immediately crosses that line.”
“How f–king rude, right?” Stamos responds. “Do you know what necrophilia means?” he asks the audience, reeling in disbelief.
“It’s like a porn parody without the porn,” blasts another critic, via Meyers. Turns out Stamos had a response for that one — involving a story about a real porn parody which he suspects may be getting a legal letter any time soon!
One thing is for sure: Stamos certainly knows how to laugh at himself. And although evidently hurt by some of the remarks, the 52-year-old actor was defiant.
“You know what, the fans love this show,” he concluded. And as far as he’s concerned, that’s all that matters.
