Have the ladies of the Real Housewives of New York City finally met their match?
Sonja Morgan chatted with Us Weekly exclusively at the Real Housewives of New York City season 8 premiere party on Tuesday, March 29, at Beautique in NYC about the show’s newest addition, Jules Wainstein, and how she thinks the reality TV rookie handled her first season.
“Oh, Jules is great! Jules is great!” Morgan, 52, raves to Us. “She’s very similar to me. She’s a class clown. She’s not guarded at all.”
However, the Sonja Morgan New York designer notes that Wainstein’s distinctive personality traits can sometimes cause conflict among the RHONY crew.
“She’s an open book, and very sensitive,” Morgan explains of the show’s latest add-on. “So, that together can be very dangerous in our crowd.”
Veteran housewife Ramona Singer also shared her thoughts with Us about Weinstein’s assimilation into Manhattan’s most notorious circle of gal pals.
“Jules — I’ve known before the show, and I think — what I love about Jules is how she just has a fresh spirit, looks at everything optimistically,” the Ramona Pinot Grigio founder, 59, gushes of her costar. “Always has a smile on her face, and she’s not bad to look at either!”
Us Weekly spoke with Wainstein herself at the launch of the Real Housewives of New York City Bus Tour on Wednesday, April 6, where she opened up about joining the hit Bravo series in its eighth season.
“This season, not just because I’m on it, I’m even excited to watch it, and I know what happens! It is really crazy, like, are people going to die? The fans might die because of how insane it is,” she tells Us. “It’s not scary walking into this group — it was just like meeting a brand new group of friends.”
Although Wainstein, who is the only married Housewife in the group, said she “got to know everyone really well, and they were all really nice,” the season 8 premiere on Wednesday, April 6, featured an unapologetically honest Bethenny Frankel criticizing the 34-year-old stay-at-home mom’s thin frame.
“She looks like a really thin girl — like, she looks like there is an issue,” the Skinnygirl mogul, 45, told the camera after meeting Wainstein for lunch. “I wrote a book called Naturally Thin. This is not naturally thin. It’s the kind of thin that makes people around you uncomfortable. I never had an eating disorder. I had a mother who had an eating disorder, and I’ve been around it, and I understand it.”
The Real Housewives of New York City airs on Bravo on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
