Nailed it! Melissa McCarthy was honored as the first woman to ever win the Comedic Genius Award at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards on Saturday, April 9 — and she poked fun at 2015 recipient Kevin Hart while accepting the golden popcorn statue.
The funnywoman, 45, made her way to the stage in the most epic way possible, crowdsurfing across the audience with the assistance of four security guards as the show aired on MTV on Sunday, April 10.
When she finally made it to the platform, she accidentally dropped her award on the floor. “That wasn’t part of a bit,” she joked, as it rolled across the stage.
“Thank you to Mr. Rock and then thank you to Mr. Rock’s assistant,” McCarthy quipped, in reference to Hart, 36. “I don’t know if you’re keeping your job after that f–k up, but let’s see how it goes.”
She continued, “There are still some nuns in my old high school in Illinois who are still pretty surprised at the use of the word ‘genius’ with my name, but take that, Sister!”
The Boss star then gave a shout out to her fellow comediennes, including Lucille Ball, Whoopi Goldberg and Bette Midler.
Earlier this week, the slimmed-down actress announced that she’s reprising her role as Sookie St. James in Netflix’s upcoming Gilmore Girls reboot.
