Two tickets, please! The first official trailer for The Girl on the Train debuted on Wednesday, April 20 — and it’s a doozy.
Emily Blunt stars in the dark thriller, which is based on Paula Hawkins‘ 2015 novel of the same name. The British actress, 33, plays Rachel Watson, an alcoholic whose life unravels when her ex-husband’s nanny, Megan Hipwell (Haley Bennett), disappears.
The new sneak peek is a roller coaster of a ride that keeps viewers guessing. A slowed-down version of Kanye West’s 2008 song “Heartless” also keeps the adrenaline pumping.
Blunt, who was pregnant with her second child while shooting, opened up about the film back in January. “I think it’s very relatable. We’ve all ridden the train to work and wondered about the lives of the people on the train, and I think that people relate to that,” she told Deadline. “I love that your heroine, your lead character is the most unreliable witness in the world because she’s a drunk. And yet she’s right, and nobody believes her. The idea of playing a part like that where you just feel like you’re drowning is exciting.”
The Tate Taylor–directed flick also stars Justin Theroux, Luke Evans, Rebecca Ferguson, Laura Prepon, Allison Janney and Lisa Kudrow.
The Girl on the Train hits theaters on October 7, 2016.
