A cringeworthy reminder. Following Prince’s death on Thursday, April 21, a painfully awkward video of the music icon telling Kim Kardashian to get off the stage at a February 2011 concert has resurfaced and gone viral.
In the five-year-old clip, the late “Purple Rain” crooner invites the reality TV superstar, now 35, to join him on stage to dance during a show at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Of course Kardashian accepts the offer, but, unfortunately, her poor stage presence and lack of enthusiasm immediately turn Prince off, prompting him to give her the boot. “Get off the stage,” he tells the Selfish author. Clearly embarrassed, the Alexander McQueen–clad Keeping Up With the Kardashians personality shrugs as she walks back to her seat.
Kardashian, who attended the show with BFF Jonathan Cheban and her then-fiancé (and now-ex-husband) Kris Humphries, addressed the incident at the time via Twitter.

“I was so nervous I froze when Prince touched me!!!!” the now-wife of Kanye West tweeted. Apparently, the legendary singer gave Kardashian a second chance to make up for the mortifying moment.
Went up on stage AGAIN! This time I redeemed myself! We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!

“Went up on stage AGAIN! This time I redeemed myself! We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!,” she wrote in a follow-up post.
As Us Weekly previously reported, Prince died at the age of 57 after being found unresponsive in an elevator on Thursday at his Paisley Park studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. His autopsy will be conducted on Friday, April 22.
