Don’t mess with this housewife! Yolanda Foster defended her daughter Gigi Hadid and BFF Kendall Jenner on Twitter on Friday, April 29, after Rebecca Romijn slammed the models in a recent interview.
The X-Men: The Last Stand actress, 43, implied that Hadid, 21, and Jenner, 20, simply got their modeling careers because of their social media presence, rather than their talent or work ethic.
“No one has proven yet that numbers of followers translates to revenue, so it is frustrating,” Romijn told Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, April 26. “I know a lot of people — legitimate fashion people — can’t stand it. Hate it that these, you know, social media stars are now the supermodels in fashion. They are not true supermodels.”
The Ugly Betty alum added, “I have always looked to Vogue magazine to lead the way … So I have been disappointed that fashion magazines have been supporting this trend of social media stars to set our style standards.”
Foster, 52, got word of Romijn’s comments and took to social media on Friday to stick up for her daughter and the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, calling the duo “kind, hard working” individuals.
“They accomplished more at half your age in the fashion industry,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star tweeted at Romijn. “It’s THEIR hard work and daily commitment to their profession that got them where they R today #NoParentsInvolved.”
The former model added, “No need 2 throw shade on hard-working children.”
Romijn later responded on Twitter, writing, “Woohoo! Twitter beef cherry popped! [Heart] you @YolandaHFoster.”
