Superwoman coming through! Blake Lively, who’s pregnant and expecting her second child with husband Ryan Reynolds, concealed her baby bump at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala on Monday, May 2.
Lively, 28, looked resplendent at the star-studded affair in a blush pink, pleated, silk organza and chiffon number by Burberry. The intricate gown included a corset top, an A-line skirt and a superhero-approved detachable cape that included laser-cut petal detailing on the back.
Deadpool actor Reynolds, 39, did not join her on the red carpet on Monday night.
Us Weekly broke the news in mid-April that Lively and Reynolds are expecting their second child together, after welcoming their first baby, 16-month-old daughter James, in December 2014. During her first pregnancy, Lively kept the news under wraps until fall 2014, when she debuted her baby bump in an ethereal photo on her now-defunct lifestyle site, Preserve.
The Age of Adaline actress was in her first trimester with baby James when she walked the 2014 Met Gala with Reynolds.
In an April 2015 interview with Allure, Lively shared that the 2014 Met Gala was her first red carpet with Reynolds after they secretly tied the knot in September 2012.
“It was scary to put yourself out there like that, but then it also seems really silly to be standing five feet from each other and refusing to stand together,” Lively told the mag of previous joint appearances. “It’s always that tricky balance of keeping your privacy but then also not being absurd. And then there’s also that thing where you think, ‘It would be nice for our kids to see a photo of Mommy and Daddy dressed up together.'”
The three-time Vogue cover girl is no stranger to Anna Wintour’s Met Gala red carpet, which Lively has attended four times since 2008. In her inaugural appearance, she made her mark in a black plumage gown. She stepped out two years later in 2010 in a blue, off-the-shoulder minidress by Marchesa. She then attended the event with Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld in 2011, and stunned two years later in a strapless Gucci Premiere dress.
