Forget a piñata or pin the tail on the donkey. Bill Horn and Scout Masterson, Tori Spelling’s close friends — aka “The Guncles” — served up sushi rolls, floats and tokidoki characters for their daughter Simone’s 6th birthday bash.
“Every year we try to throw Simone a party she’ll always remember … and work our butts off in executing every last detail,” Horn tells Us Weekly. “Simone told us she loved everything about the day, so we must have done our jobs. Parent score!”
The dads — who are also the parents of son Bosley, 24 months — spill all the details on the bash that was attended by family friends such as Spelling, Tiffani Thiessen and Denise Richards.
Invitation
Simone Legno, creator of the Japanese-influenced tokidoki pop-culture line, designed an invite for Simone, beckoning guests to “grab your swimsuits and your chopsticks!”
Location
Fifty of Simone’s friends — including Harper, 6, daughter of Thiessen and Brady Smith — convened at the Guncles’ L.A. home on June 4.
Special Guest Character
Donutella brought tokidoki x Ju-Ju-Be duffel bags filled with tokidoki treats, a ZoLi bottle, a LILLEbaby doll carrier and craft kits. Raves Horn: “All the kids flipped out!”
Food
Singer Sisters Sweets whipped up cookies and three cakes, while chef Salvador Alvarez Jr. prepared the sushi. Revelers were also treated to fruit popsicles from Modern Pop.
Drinks
A bar was open for grown-up chaperones such as Spelling, who, years ago, had invited the couple onto her Oxygen show Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. “We always serve adult beverages at kids’ events,” says Horn. “Parents deserve them!”
Decor
Masterson stayed up until 5 a.m. spray-gluing pages from coloring books onto foam board for a dessert-table backdrop.
Activities
A craft table held DIY kits from Faber-Castell, a caricature artist drew family portraits, and a lifeguard stood watch as kids splashed with doughnut-shape pool floats.
